Short-Term Respite
A break that refreshes everyone
What is Short-Term Respite?
Short-term respite provides temporary support and accommodation when you need a break from your usual routine, or when your regular carers need time to rest and recharge. Respite can happen in your own home, in a comfortable accommodation setting, or through increased support hours with activities you enjoy.
Respite isn't just about giving carers a break. It's also an opportunity for you to try new experiences, build independence, meet new people, and have a change of scenery in a safe, supportive environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance do I need to book respite?
We recommend booking at least 2-4 weeks in advance where possible, especially for accommodation-based respite. However, we'll do our best to accommodate shorter-notice requests.
Can I use the same support workers I already know?
If you're already receiving support from Care Compass, we'll try to roster workers you're familiar with for your respite. This helps maintain continuity and comfort.
What if I have complex support needs?
We provide respite for people with a range of support needs, including complex requirements. We'll ensure our team has the right skills and experience for your situation.
Can families stay in contact during respite?
Absolutely! We can arrange regular check-ins, phone calls, video calls, or whatever level of contact works for you and your family.
What happens if I don't enjoy the respite?
Your comfort is our priority. If something isn't working, let us know immediately and we'll do everything we can to adjust the experience or make alternative arrangements.
